Book Review: Beautiful Bundts: 100 Recipes for Delicious Cakes and More By Julie Ann Hession

Beautiful Bundts: 100 Recipes for Delicious Cakes and More
By Julie Ann Hession

Review written by David.

A big redneck like me has had no end of fun picking on the ladies who brought bundt cakes to the church dinners. “Hey, Ida Mae, there’s a hole in your cake!” However, Ida Mae will get the last laugh when she brings one of these Beautiful Bundt cakes to the church dinner.

What is not to enjoy when Ida Mae brings a sausage stuffed bundt cake?  And, who is not gonna like a turkey meatloaf bundt cake?

There are step-by-step instructions for each recipe and, just to make sure that “Even a Redneck can do it”, there are step-by-step pictures for many of the techniques involved in making these eye-opening, mouth-watering delights.

From classic pound cakes, s’mores cakes, all the way up to red velvet bundts, you will love these cakes.  There is even a two potato bundt cake in here. Since this fat redneck is allergic to sweet potatoes, we will have to substitute some other potato.  But it sounds and looks delicious. A mac and cheese bundt?  Really?

Ida Mae will be the one laughing while Jimmy Joe asks for seconds or even thirds of these wonderful, easy to make, bundt cakes.

Book Review: 175 Best Small-Batch Baking Recipes: Treats for 1 or 2 By Jill Snider

175 Best Small-Batch Baking Recipes: Treats for 1 or 2
By Jill Snider

We were sent a review copy of 175 Best Small-Batch Baking Recipes Treats for 1 or 2 free of charge for the purpose of writing this review.

We are empty-nesters.  We went from a household that once had as many as 6 people, all the way down to 2. Talk about an adjustment.

There was a time when we would have to make multiple batches of cookies just so everyone could have one or two.  We did not have to send out invitations to the kids’ birthday parties because we already had a house full.

Now that all the kids have gone on to do their things, we have had to adapt.  175 Best Small-Batch Baking Recipes: Treats for 1 or 2 is a good tool for us to have in the toolbox because there is such a difference.

Empty-nesters like us need books like this to help us reduce the servings of the treats we make.  The book is well-written and easy to follow.

If you love shortbread cookies like we do, you simply have to try this book.

We give 175 Best Small-Batch Baking Recipes: Treats for 1 or 2 all five stars.  We think you will, too.

Book Review: Aquafabulous: 100+ Egg-Free Vegan Recipes Using Aquafaba By Rebecca Coleman

Aquafabulous: 100+ Egg-Free Vegan Recipes Using Aquafaba
By Rebecca Coleman

Who would have thought it, you can make a substitute for eggs in many recipes with bean water?

We were sent a review copy of Aquafabulous 100+ Egg-Free Vegan Recipes Using Aquafaba for the purpose of writing this review.

We have been trying to live healthy for a while now.  We have reduced our intake of animal products as much as possible. But some things are hard to give up, like cake and omelettes.

Aquafaba, which is really just water drained off of beans, can be used in place of eggs in many recipes.  Who knew?

The author, Rebecca Coleman, teaches readers the basics in the first part of the book and then she gets into actually making many tasty treats.  She even helps us with recipes for the beans that are left over after making the aquafaba.

If you are trying to eat healthier, Aquafabulous 100+ Egg-Free Vegan Recipes Using Aquafaba would make a great addition to your kitchen library.
